The Empress English Lever Fusee Pocket Watch – J.G. Greyfeild, Sheffield

$155.00

Circa mid-to-late 19th century – For Restoration

An elegant and complete English lever fusee pocket watch, signed J.G. Greyfeild, Sheffield, and marked "The Empress." This timepiece is currently not running, but appears mechanically complete, offering an excellent candidate for restoration.

  • Movement: Key-wound, chain-driven fusee movement with English lever escapement. Untested, but visually intact. Fusee chain appears present.

  • Dial: Enamel dial with Roman numerals and spade hands. Some age-appropriate wear; no major cracks visible.

  • Case: Likely sterling silver (hallmarks should confirm); hunter or open-face case style depending on variant. Hinges function, case shows age but no major damage.

  • Signature: Movement signed "J.G. Greyfeild, Sheffield" – a lesser-known but intriguing regional maker, adding to the watch’s character.

  • Condition: Not currently running. Sold as-is for restoration. A great project watch or addition to a collection of English fusees.

Note: "The Empress" was often a model name used by various 19th-century English makers, adding a touch of grandeur to practical, solidly built watches. Fusee movements are appreciated for their historical engineering and are increasingly collectible.
