Early Pre-1920s Sassau | Art Deco Cushion Case | Engraved Design | Fancy Deco Dial

$295.00
Sold Out

This early pre-1920s Sassau is a rare and beautifully preserved example from the dawn of the Art Deco era — a moment when watchmaking was shifting from pocket watches into the wrist-worn designs we now recognize today. It features a classic cushion-shaped case, complete with engraved detailing that showcases the ornamental style of the period.

The dial is the star: a truly fancy Art Deco layout, with stylized numerals and graphic elements that reflect the very earliest expressions of Deco design before it fully matured in the 1920s and 30s. Pieces from this transitional period are scarce, and Sassau — a lesser-known maker with roots in early Swiss horology — produced small quantities, making survivors like this even more desirable.

Its size wears wonderfully today, larger than many watches from its era, and it runs well by vintage standards. More than just a timepiece, it’s a piece of horological history: an early wristwatch from a brand caught in the shift from Victorian design into the bold geometry of Art Deco.

A charming, historically significant, and highly collectible vintage watch with unmistakable early-20th-century character.
