$1,295.00

This is a particularly appealing vintage Omega Seamaster Automatic Ref. 166.002, dating to approximately 1964, with an unusually personal piece of Canadian history engraved into its caseback. Rather than simply being a vintage Omega, this watch was presented to A. L. Carruthers in recognition of 25 years of service from 1939–1964 by MacMillan Bloedel and Powell River Limited, one of Canada's major forestry companies of the era.

Measuring approximately 34.2mm across, 39.4mm lug-to-lug and 10.7mm thick, the watch has the classic proportions that make 1960s Omega dress watches so wearable today. The upper case and bezel are gold-plated, complemented by a stainless-steel screw-down caseback, giving it an elegant but practical combination of materials.

The silver-white sunburst dial is beautifully restrained, with applied gold-tone markers, stylized Arabic numerals at 12, 9 and 6, and a date window at 3 o'clock. The original “SWISS MADE T” marking indicates the use of tritium luminous material, while the combination of the gold markers and silver dial gives the watch a distinctly refined mid-century appearance.

Inside is Omega's highly regarded Calibre 562, a 24-jewel automatic movement from Omega's legendary 500-series family. The movement winds itself through normal wrist movement and incorporates a date mechanism, making it an excellent combination of durability and everyday practicality. The movement serial 21893077 places its production around 1964, fitting remarkably well with the 25-year service presentation engraved on the back.

The caseback is where this watch truly separates itself from an ordinary vintage Seamaster. The engraving commemorates A. L. Carruthers' 25 years of service with MacMillan Bloedel and Powell River Limited, 1939–1964. Corporate presentation watches like this were often given to employees to recognize decades of service, making the engraving a tangible piece of the owner's working history and of Canadian industrial history more broadly.

The Seamaster itself was one of Omega's most important collections, originally introduced as a robust water-resistant watch and evolving into a broad family of watches ranging from professional divers to elegant everyday models. The Ref. 166.002 represents the latter beautifully, offering the technical reliability of the automatic 500-series movement in a refined 1960s dress-watch format.

The watch is currently paired with a modern Wocci gray pebbled leather strap, which complements the silver dial and gold-tone case nicely while keeping the focus on the original watch and its remarkable provenance.

A beautiful 1960s Seamaster made even more special by its 25-year Canadian corporate presentation history—a genuine piece of Omega and Canadian industrial history on the wrist.
