Omega Seamaster | Automatic Cal. 471 | Ref. 2802-1 | 1954

$1,155.00

This vintage Omega Seamaster is a beautiful example of Omega’s early post-war automatic watchmaking, dating to 1954. With its elegant proportions, original aged dial, and highly regarded automatic movement, it represents the period when the Seamaster was evolving into one of Omega’s most important and enduring collections.

The dial features a warm silver tone with attractive natural patina developed over decades of use. Applied gold-tone Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 are complemented by matching gold markers, creating a refined contrast against the aged dial surface. The classic dauphine-style hands and central seconds hand complete the timeless 1950s dress-watch aesthetic.

Inside is the Omega Caliber 471, a 19-jewel automatic movement from Omega’s celebrated 470-series. Introduced in the early 1950s, this movement represented the next generation of Omega’s automatic technology following the earlier bumper movements. Unlike the older semi-rotor designs, the Cal. 471 uses a full 360-degree oscillating rotor, providing more efficient winding and marking Omega’s transition toward modern automatic watch construction.

The 470-series movements are known for their reliability, smooth operation, and excellent engineering. They were built to a higher standard than many contemporary Swiss automatic movements and helped solidify Omega’s reputation as one of the leading manufacturers of precision wristwatches during the 1950s.

The watch is housed in a stainless steel case, reference 2802-1, a practical and durable construction that has aged exceptionally well compared with many plated cases from the same period. The classic Seamaster case design features clean lines, modest proportions, and the understated elegance that makes these early models highly wearable even by modern standards.

The dial displays honest aging and patina consistent with its seventy years of history, reinforcing its originality and vintage character. It is fitted with a new leather strap, replacing the original band and giving the watch a fresh, comfortable feel while preserving the authentic vintage presentation of the watch itself.

Early automatic Seamasters such as this occupy an important place in Omega’s history. Combining a true Omega manufacture movement, robust stainless steel construction, and classic 1950s styling, the reference 2802-1 offers collectors a direct connection to the era when Omega established itself as one of the world’s premier makers of automatic wristwatches.
